We are pleased to announce that registration is open for Resilient Voices, a support group for folks who have both a chronic illness and are in eating disorder recovery.
The group was developed and is led by Anita Dharwadkar, one of the Registered Dietitian Nutritionists here at Marci RD nutrition and she has a special message below about the program.
This group was developed this group program for two main reasons…
Living with a chronic illness is really, really hard.
Being in eating disorder recovery only makes that harder.
If you know this is something you want to be part of, click here to get all the details and to apply now. We only have 8 spots in the group.
If you are wondering why we have a group like this… keep reading.
Some chronic illnesses are invisible, meaning that you wouldn’t know someone has it from the outside, and some are not. Receiving a diagnosis of a chronic illness may seem like a life sentence, and, in a way, it is.
As someone who lives with chronic illness myself, I get it. I understand how lonely and isolating it can be, the daily symptoms and pain you have to deal with, the financial burden of medical expenses, and trying not to use too many spoons in one day. It’s a lot to freaking manage.
I have many clients who struggle to navigate their chronic illness(es) in the context of eating disorder recovery. Wanting a space where folks can come and be with others who get it was my inspiration for starting this group. I believe that being with others who understand can make even the most difficult things just a little bit easier.
One of the reasons I am so passionate about advocating and providing support for folks who live with chronic illness is because, as someone who lives with chronic illness, I know how it feels when:
Your friends often don’t understand your struggles because they have no idea what it’s like
Your doctors dismiss your concerns and blame them on the eating disorder
You get tossed around in the system because no one is listening
The stress of trying to navigate recovery becomes overwhelming
Your chronic illness impacts how you feel about your body image
If any of the above resonated with you, please know that you are not alone.
From first-hand experience, I know how important it is to surround yourself with others who get it – that community is one of the key parts of recovery and healing. I have had so many clients come into my office and say something along the lines of “Nobody understands what I’m going through.”
Maybe you have felt that way at some point, too.
At Marci RD Nutrition, our Resilient Voices group is specifically designed for folks who are looking for strategies and support to navigate life with a chronic illness and in eating disorder recovery.
This group offers a safe place to:
Find community with others who get it
Process and talk about the unique challenges that come from living with a chronic illness & being in ED recovery
Stay motivated to continue pursuing recovery and manage chronic conditions
Discuss how hard it is to exist in a body in the context of chronic illness
Learn strategies for managing chronic illness and ED recovery. (We discuss how you can use your voice to be an advocate, speak up to medical professionals, navigate social situations, and much more!)
Receive support and guidance from a registered dietitian who also lives with chronic illnesses
Resilient Voices is all about offering the compassionate and holistic support that living with complex chronic illnesses requires to heal and thrive.
