Philippi, WV – Broaddus Hospital is excited to announce its upcoming event dedicated to promoting health and wellness in Barbour County. The community health fair, June 8, will offer discounted preventive screenings, health education, and resources to empower individuals and families to take charge of their health.
The event will take place at Broaddus Hospital on Saturday, June 8, from 8 AM to 2 PM, aiming to make preventive healthcare accessible and affordable for all local residents. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of free assessments, including blood pressure checks, BMI measurement, vision screenings, and more.
In addition, the event will feature educational workshops, interactive demonstrations, and informational booths focused on promoting healthy lifestyles and disease prevention. Expert healthcare professionals will be on hand to offer guidance, answer questions, and provide valuable resources on topics such as nutrition, fitness, alcohol and drug prevention, chronic disease management, preventive care, and mental health.
“We are happy to host the community health fair and provide access to essential preventive screenings and health education,” said Dewayne Kirkpatrick, BSRT (MR) Radiology Manager and health fair coordinator. “Our goal is to empower individuals and families to prioritize their health and make informed decisions about their well-being.”
Discounted lab screenings include: Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CBC, Lipid Panel, Uric Acid) $35; AIC (Diabetes) $20; PSA (Prostate) $20; CRP (C-Reactive Protein) $10; TSH (Thyroid) $10. Radiology Screenings available are: Aortic Artery Screening $35; Carotid Artery Screening $35; or bundle both the Aortic and the Carotid Artery Screenings for $60. 12 hour fasting is recommended for lab tests.
Many local health partners will participate including HealthNet, Barbour County VFD and EMS, Philippi Police Department, Country Roads Chiropractic, Barbour County Health Department, Quality Insights, Freedom Bank, Mountain Hospice, Advanced Hearing Solutions, WVDHHR, DHS Foundation, OEM 911, WV Prevention Solutions, Mace’s Pharmacy, Senior Life Solutions, Women’s Aid in Crisis, Youth Health Services, Matt Starks, Family Resource Network, and Barbour Community Health Association.
In addition, health professionals and providers representing a variety of medical specialties will be on hand including foot and ankle, dentistry, speech pathology, physical therapy, wound care, women’s health, audiology, ophthalmology, pharmacy, respiratory therapy and cardiac rehabilitation.
