MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A health services company with operations around the world is laying off 140 employees in Memphis, according to a WARN notice filed with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
Maximus Inc. informed the department on Friday that it plans to layoff 140 workers at its facility on South Mendenhall Road in Memphis. The permanent layoffs will take place on July 31, the WARN notice states.
The health care company’s website says it provides “transformative technology services, digitally enabled customer experiences, and clinical health services that change lives,” and that “Today’s rapidly changing world demands that governments have the capacity and flexibility to respond to the growing expectations of the people they serve. Maximus makes it easier for people to access public services more easily and equitably. Moving people forward reflects our employees’ shared desire to do something meaningful to help others succeed. That’s why Maximus takes on today’s challenges to define a better tomorrow.”
According to the WARN notice of layoffs, the Greater Memphis Rapid Response team, employed by the Greater Memphis Chamber, has been notified to coordinate services with the employer and affected employees.
